Texting is a great way to get customers’ attention. It’s also a great way to bring in more leads and create more sales opportunities.

Who doesn’t want that? Below we’re showing you three ways to make it happen.

1. Tell Them to Text You

Want customers to do something? Make sure they know how.

You need to tell your audience that they can text your business, why they should, and what number to text. Share these details wherever you’d normally communicate with them—in your ads and emails, on your website and social media—and be sure to repeat the message often so it sticks.

You can go with a simple call-to-action like “Text us at [phone number] to schedule your service.” You can also take advantage of Keywords or SMS Chat to bring in leads. More on both below.

2. Give Them an Incentive

How will this benefit them?

People do things that benefit them, so you need to show customers what they’ll get in return for texting. There are two common approaches:

  • Sell the benefit in your messaging

  • Offer a discount through Keywords

For instance, “Text SPRING to [our number] to get 10% off patio installation, and have yours ready just in time to enjoy the great weather.”

 In this case, you’re selling the benefit of enjoying the great spring weather on a new patio, offering a discount to get people to act now, and using a keyword capture them as a lead.

3. Make It Easy

Generally, the easier something is to do, the more customers will do it.

There are several ways you can make it easier for customers to text you for sales and service:

  • Add “Text or call us” wherever you list your phone number, so they know it’s an option

  • Include SMS Chat on your website, so they can message you directly for help

  • Tell customers to save your number, so they can easily text you when they need

  • Text existing customers to start conversations and share updates or promotions as relevant

Make sure customers know they can text you, make it easy for them to do it, and you’ll start seeing more leads coming in that you can turn into sales.
