How to Change Message Views and Filters in Text Request

We want to help your business use Text Request most effectively. At times it can be helpful to change how messages are displayed in your dashboard, and this guide will show you how to do that.

Below we’ll cover what message views and message filters are, how to change them, and why you might want to.

What is a message view?

A message view controls how messages are displayed. Our three options are:

  • Classic
  • Condensed, and
  • Combined

Basically, there’s our classic view, there’s one that mimics a Gmail account, there’s one that mimics an Outlook account. Changing your message view does not affect other users. See examples of each below.

Change Message View

What is a message filter?

A message filter controls which messages are displayed. Our three options are:

  • Unresolved First
  • Newest First, and
  • Only Show Unresolved

The first will bring any unresolved messages to the top of your screen whenever the page is refreshed. The next will show all messages chronologically. The last will only show unresolved messages (and will hide messages marked resolved).

Changing your message filter does not affect other users. See examples of each below.

How to Change Message Views

Two clicks and you’re done. Login to your Text Request account. (Make sure you’re viewing Messages > Conversations.) Click the Change View icon in the header, and pick the message view you want.

Here’s what each view looks like for reference:

Classic

If you manage one or a few text conversations at a time, this is probably the best view for you.

Classic View

Condensed

If you manage lots of conversations at a time, or need to quickly move from one conversation to the next, this is probably the best view for you.

Condensed View

Combined

This is a good option if you want to see your recent messages while also viewing a conversation thread.

How to Change Message Filters

Login to your Text Request account. Make sure you’re viewing Messages > Conversations. Click the Sort and Filter Messages icon in the header, and pick the filter you want.

Here’s what each filter looks like for reference:

Unresolved First

If you want to keep up with which messages still need your attention, while also being able to see your past conversations, this is probably the best filter for you.

Unresolved First

Newest First

If you want to see all your messages in chronological order (with the most recent messages showing first), this is probably the best filter for you.

Newest Messages Filter

Only Show Unresolved

If you only want to see messages that still need your attention (e.g. that you need to respond to), and do not want to see past messages, this is probably the best filter for you.

Unresolved Messages Only
