Keywords: Grow Your SMS Subscriber List
Keywords are an efficient, non-costly way for you to grow your SMS subscriber list, so you can regularly text offers and deals to customers.
Here's how to create keywords using Text Request.
Keywords Mini Guide
A Keyword is a unique word or phrase customers text to your business to opt-in for specific information.
Keywords can be used to grow your SMS subscriber list, so you can update subscribers on that topic as needed.
To create a Keyword:
Go to Keywords in the Settings section of your Text Request menu
Select + New Keyword
Name your Keyword (this will be the word or phrase people text to you)
(Optional) Type the message customers receive after texting the Keyword
Pick a term that is relevant to what you do, and showcase it in public places like your website, social media, and digital ads, with an announcement, like:
“Text DEALS to [business number] for updates on our upcoming sales and discounts!”
You can create different keywords for different target customers, which is great if your customer base has different categories of products and services they’re interested in.

Keywords in Action
The marketing department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics is responsible for making sure people know about games and are excited to come. This past year they decided to use Text Request to engage fans at their Southern Scuffle wrestling tournament.
126 people texted the keyword “SCUFFLE24” to opt in to trivia at the tournament, and now UTC Athletics has those numbers for when the event rolls around next year.
